
David McDowell, a member of the firm, is a civil litigator. David has successful experience representing clients in automobile dealership litigation, residential/commercial construction, family law, consumer protection litigation, professional liability, personal injury, insurance litigation, real estate litigation, and commercial litigation.
David received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he served as managing editor of and had his article published in the University of Memphis Law Review. While in law school, David received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in Copyright, Environmental Law, and Trial Advocacy. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award, ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law, and the Sam A. Myar, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Before joining the firm, David served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable David R. Farmer of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. David served as President of the Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Division and as District 3 Governor of the Tennessee Bar Association Board of Governors. David currently serves as the East Tennessee Governor of the Tennessee Bar Association Board of Governors, and as the Treasurer of the Tennessee Bar Association YLD Fellows. David has been recognized as a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, American Bar Foundation, and the Tennessee Bar Association YLD. David has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer for 2024 (Business Litigation) and as Super Lawyer-Rising Star for 2013-2016 by the Mid-South Super Lawyers publication.
He and his family attend Hixson United Methodist Church. David currently serves as the attorney coach for the Baylor Mock Trial Team.
